Next mtg: Oct 21. Mission: Improve the quality of life of persons with dementia in Michigan by:
Year 2007 PrioritiesSupport persons with dementia and their caregivers by supporting the wraparound services initiative, recognizing best practices in dementia respite care, updating adult day services directory, and developing an evidence-based effective caregiver interventions summary. Increase primary care physicians' awareness of and implementation of best practices in identification and management of chronic diseases that cause dementia. The Primary Care Dementia Network will develop best practice guidelines, support the Michigan Primary Care Dementia Network, develop educational materials, and conduct peer-to-peer primary care physician education. Increase dementia competency of direct care workers by disseminating the dementia competencies guide, developing a lower-literacy version of the dementia competencies guide, continuing development of the dementia competencies self assessment tool for direct care workers, and updating the Michigan Dementia Education & Training Providers Directory. Continue the WorriedAboutMemoryLoss.com campaign to increase awareness of the importance of early diagnosis of possible Alzheimer's and dementia warning signs and the value of obtaining information about resources early.
